DescriptionI know that there is a token system, or at least part of one, in the XMB code base. Why is it there and what is it doing?

The XMB token system from version 1.9.8 accomplished nothing. It was generating random numbers that were inserted into templates.xmb using a single variable.

I removed those variables but left the hidden input elements in the templates for future use.

The assert_token() member function was unfinished and unused. I removed class page_token from validate.inc.php for clarity.
